Planning to swap out my cracked leather for some salvage yard cloth. How much is fair to pay for front and rear cloth seats in average used condition? I'm new to dealing with salvage yards and don't want to get ripped off. Plus I would like to have a ball park idea of what it is going to take. __________________ 97 FZJ80 40th Anniversary Edition wife-mobile/weekend wheeler SOLD'98 T4R 5spd, e-locker, Boss coilovers, LC 8wraps, Tokico blacks, SS extended bump stops, 255/85r16 Toyo M/T's http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...ml#post1707857 | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 08:39 AM | #2 | | Senior Member | | Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Indy, IN Posts: 2,613 Real Name: Adam | | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: Indy, IN Posts: 2,613 Real Name: Adam | Have you thought about getting some nice seat covers? I'm going to guess that most of the cloth seats you'll find, that aren't freaking expensive, and going to have stains and be pretty worn. There was a guy a few months back that paid $500 or something like that for a pair of front seats! Nice seat covers will cost you a couple hundred bucks, but they are really nice and you can get any color combo you want...just an idea. __________________ 1998 SR5 4x4 Natural White http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...read-gigi.html | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 11:32 AM | #3 | | Member | | Join Date: May 2012 Location: Austin, TX Posts: 229 | | Member Join Date: May 2012 Location: Austin, TX Posts: 229 | Quote: Originally Posted by Millerad1651 Have you thought about getting some nice seat covers? I ask because usually door panels are fabric specific. A cloth interior 4Runner will have cloth door panels and leather interiors have leather door panels. You just made it sound like my question was irrelevant. __________________ 2002 "Stormtrooper" 4Runner Tacoma Bilstein 5100s | Eibach/Toytec Springs (Front) | FJ Springs (Rear) | Tundra 13WL Brake Swap | Much More... | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 03:39 PM | #9 | | Banned | | Join Date: Apr 2013 Location: Denvoid Posts: 827 | | Banned Join Date: Apr 2013 Location: Denvoid Posts: 827 | Quote: Originally Posted by Brian757 I ask because usually door panels are fabric specific. Had a set of Wet Okoles in the Tacoma and loved them. The problem is I don't need to cover the seats, I need new seats. New foam, new springs etc. Granted what I am looking for won't be new but hopefully much newer. Quote: Originally Posted by slapdappy I have here in denver a full leather set. '99 Ltd. That's one of my main rules. Sell what you replace to buy what you need. So essentially you did the swap for $100. __________________ 97 FZJ80 40th Anniversary Edition wife-mobile/weekend wheeler SOLD'98 T4R 5spd, e-locker, Boss coilovers, LC 8wraps, Tokico blacks, SS extended bump stops, 255/85r16 Toyo M/T's http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...ml#post1707857 | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 03:59 PM | #12 | | Senior Member | | Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: VB, VA Posts: 1,662 | | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: VB, VA Posts: 1,662 | Quote: Originally Posted by slapdappy just jokin' with ya. no intention to be dismissive. didn't know the premise. I wasn't asking for him. Good luck on the sale. Also, not all 1998 Natural White 4Runner's came with leather seating/door panels. They do have oak/tan color though. Gotcha...didn't know you needed new foam and springs, etc. From reading your post it just sounded like the leather was cracked and torn. Check out TXBonds build...he got some aftermarket seats for his, although I can't remember exactly how much he spent. __________________ 1998 SR5 4x4 Natural White http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...read-gigi.html | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 06:33 PM | #14 | Member | | Join Date: May 2013 Location: Sneads Ferry, NC Posts: 161 | | Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Sneads Ferry, NC Posts: 161 | Salvage yard 101... some salvage yards do 50% off on either a holiday or day after. As for seats, My 96 has 260k on the odometer. My seats are horribly uncomfortable and I have spent the last year going over the best option for me. I just ordered two new corbeau sport seats. 1. Junkyard seats, I found several decent seats that were approx the same size. Most junkyards were from 75-150 for each seat, mostly depending on the brand of car. Then the color match would be off, so seat covers @150-200 for some good quality seat covers. Then mounting, I don't have the tools to make my own brackets, so you are at the mercy of a welder/shop to make your mounting brackets... @50-100?? So minimum 500. and you get used seats with a seat cover... 2. Toyota replacement foam, somewhere in the ball park of @250 for the pads. Not a bad option, but then you still have 17 year old seat covers. Then the passenger needs to be done as well so back at @500, prolly less if you shop for the foam. 3. DIY. Buy a block of foam @50 for a 4"x24"60" more than enough to do two seats. "have you ever done this? I haven't so no clue as where to begin" then seat covers back to the @150-200 for good seat covers. So @250-300 ish, and however long it takes you. 4. Buy seats. I paid 840, for the corbeau seats, that is tax and freight, which I feel the company should pay freight!!! And also the mounting brackets so they bolt right in. This is the most expensive, but I justified it because this is my DD, not a once a month rig, right now I drive almost 100 miles a day and CA traffic makes for some long days. I chose the most comfortable route. my .02 | | Reply With Quote | 06-18-2014, 06:38 PM | #15 | Member | | Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 745 | | Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 745 | I paid $150 total for 2 front leather seats in near perfect condition from a junkyard. It really depends on the yard, but I'd imagine you can get a full set of cloth seats for $300 or less. Personally, I wouldn't pay any more than that. Ha, I don't know if that helps. __________________ 1996 Limited 4x4 Anthracite Metallic (162,XXX miles) -OME 881/890 with Tundra Bilstein Struts/Bilstein 5100 rear, 16" 5-Stars with 265/75R16 Duratracs, Savage Sliders and Skids, B&M 70268 Trans Cooler, Amsoil Fluids | | Reply With Quote | « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is On | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | Fair Price? | OHP | 4th Gen T4Rs | 15 | 04-11-2012 03:12 PM | Fair Price? 99 sr5. what should it go for? | Woodsie8 | 3rd gen T4Rs | 13 | 12-19-2011 01:53 AM | Fair Price | R1FIGHTER | 4th Gen T4Rs | 2 | 04-07-2010 10:11 AM | Fair Price? | 2000runr | 3rd gen T4Rs | 14 | 10-02-2009 08:19 AM | Fair asking price? | trd_4runnin | 3rd gen T4Rs | 4 | 12-15-2007 01:10 PM | » Popular Tags | 3rd 4runner 4th 5th area back bar battery black brake bumper car cargo control door engine find fluid front fuel gen good install iphone issue im kit lift light lights limited miles mount noise oem oil part parts power pro rack rear replace road roof running sale set shipping shocks side skid springs sr5 start steering stock suspension system time tire tires toyota trd truck vehicle wheel wheels work wtb | | » Follow Us!!! | | » T4R Sponsors | | |
