Fox in a Box - Chicago has again resumed delivering safe and awesome adventures for you and your closest loved ones.  To help ensure your group's safety in this time of Covid, we have changed many of our procedures.  Here are some of those steps:

  • Private rooms

    • Fox in a Box has always been the Chicago Escape Room where you were guaranteed a private room.  And this is still the case.  Because private rooms are awesome and safer!

  • Private Lobby / New Offset Game Times

    • By changing our game start times, this helps ensure that your group is only with your group, and that we have time to disinfect our lobby space between starts.

  • Extra time between games to disinfect

    • We clean and disinfect the clues between each game. This means removing all frequently handled items from the room for a detailed disinfection and finally resetting the room with the detailed items. We don't want you to have any worries about your safety!

  • Require masks of staff

    • We no longer require masks from guests as of September 30, 2022. Although we stopped requiring them, we still recommend wearing one since this is a close-proximity indoor activity. Staff will continue to wear masks in front of you.

  • Closed our lobby

    • Though we love our lobby, we realized that having people wait in the lobby could lead to the spread of Covid-19. We currently ask all of our guests to wait in our spacious atrium space on the 1st floor of our building if they arrive early.

  • Changed our Cancellation Policy

    • Recognizing that having anyone sick at Fox in a Box is not a good situation, we are allowing groups with a member who is sick to cancel at any time.  They will be provided a voucher which will be good 3 months after their scheduled time in order to ensure that they have plenty of time to recover from their illness.

  • Hands free check-in

    • Though our iPads have been easy to register on in the past, we have changed our signin procedures so everyone can (and must!) sign in before getting to Fox in a Box.

  • Hands-free hints

    • Though we love our card based hint system, we realized that this is another potential Covid-19 vector.  So, we have moved our visual hint system on to our screens.

  • Other items:

    • Gloves available by request

    • Walk ins no longer allowed

    • Sealed delivery

    • Pre-recorded instructions

And if you're considering Escape Rooms to other activities, the following chart says it all.

If you're interested about what we did DURING covid, please keep reading.

  • Social Distancing

    • Although everyone involved will be wearing masks, we will do our best to keep at least 6ft distance from your party. The only time we will be near you (with your consent) is to help with certain room setups.

  • Hand Sanitizer in the rooms

    • We have always provided hand sanitizer in our lobby, but with the current situation, we have gone one step further and offer alcohol based hand sanitizer in our rooms with touchless dispensers.  Use it whenever you like.

  • Closed restrooms

    • We tried to work with our landlord to ensure sufficient disinfection to keep the restroom safe, but in the end have realized that we cannot reasonably offer the restrooms to our guests.  Please use the restroom before you arrive (and wash your hands for 20+ seconds!)

  • Closed our lobby / Increased staff space

    • Though we love our lobby, we realized that having people wait in the lobby could lead to the spread of Covid-19. And we also realized that our control rooms were too small for our team to remain safe if someone came down with something.  By relocating some of our staff, we're helping to ensure that there is ample room for social distancing, keeping everyone safer.

  • Self-certification of staff AND guests

    • Who takes the time to keep track of every symptom related to Covid-19?  At Fox in a Box, we're trying to stay on top of it, and will ask our staff AND guests before every game to reflect on if they are not in top condition.  And if anyone is under the weather, we will happily reschedule you.

  • Temperature checks of staff AND guests

    • Not all of us think to check our temperature before we leave for the day.  So, Fox in a Box will help with that extra detail to help keep Covid-19 from spreading. Staff with a temperature above 100.1 degrees will be sent home, and we will ask customers who have a temperature to reschedule for a later date when they - and everyone in their group - are healthy.

  • Require masks of guests and staff (reusable masks at cost available in lobby)

    • Wearing a mask is one of the most effective ways we can prevent the spread of Covid-19. It shows that we care about each other. Please help us keep Fox in a Box germ free by adhering to this policy. If you do not have a mask, we have two masks available (both at cost) - our basic mask for $5 and our embroidered mask for $10 (+ tax).

  • Live Remote rooms

    • Fox in a Box currently offers our Live Remote Bunker which is playable from the comfort and safety of your own home with friends and family located anywhere in the world!
